These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Legal Beagle service, website and applications (the "Service"), operated by Mahutonga Media Limited ("Legal Beagle", "we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, starting a free trial, subscribing, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Service generates general legal information using AI language models. It is provided for general informational and educational purposes only and must not be relied upon as legal advice. Laws differ between jurisdictions and change over time. You should not act, or refrain from acting, on the basis of any output from the Service without obtaining advice from a suitably qualified lawyer.
No lawyer–client, solicitor–client, fiduciary, or other professional or advisory relationship is created between you and Legal Beagle, its operators, employees or contractors by your use of the Service.
Output is produced by automated systems and may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or inappropriate for your circumstances. The Service may "hallucinate" or state incorrect information with apparent confidence. You are solely responsible for evaluating, verifying, and independently confirming any information before relying on it.
For any matter that affects your legal rights or obligations — and especially anything urgent, time-sensitive, or involving court deadlines, disputes, or significant value — you must consult a qualified lawyer. Do not use the Service in an emergency.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties or guarantees of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including (without limitation) any implied warranties or guarantees of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, or non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Legal Beagle and its operators, owners, employees, contractors and suppliers will not be liable for any loss, damage, cost or expense of any kind — whether direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive, including loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or loss arising from reliance on the Service — arising out of or in connection with your access to, use of, or inability to use the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such loss. Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total aggregate liability is limited, at our option, to re-supplying the Service or refunding the amount you paid for the Service in the three (3) months preceding the relevant claim.
You use the Service entirely at your own risk. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Legal Beagle and its operators from and against any claims, liabilities, losses, damages and expenses (including legal costs) arising out of or in connection with your use of, or reliance on, the Service, or your breach of these Terms.
Do not submit information that is confidential, privileged, or that you are not authorised to share. Inputs and outputs are processed by automated systems and may be stored or processed by third-party providers; communications with the Service are not protected by legal professional privilege.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any rights or remedies you may have that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or Fair Trading Act 1986 where they apply. Where those Acts apply and permit us to limit our liability, our liability is limited as set out in clause 6.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. The courts of New Zealand have exclusive jurisdiction for any matter arising out of or in connection with these Terms.
Legal Beagle is not a government service. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the New Zealand government, courts, or any official legal body. This is a private tool built by Mahutonga Media Limited.
